Just a few kilometres to the northeast of Hobart lies the historic town of Richmond. From the following photos, you can get some idea of how things were built in Australian colonial times:
St. Johns, a fairly old church
This bridge over the Coal River is the oldest bridge in Australia. It was built between 1823 and 1825 by convict labour. It is still able to carry vehicular traffic.
As I recall, we had to give these ducks the right of way as we were walking the path beside the Coal River.
